Weekend

Too much happened, in the best possible way. Ate a million and one delicious things---maple frosted bacon topped doughnuts, a million soy lattes, figs!, blood orange mimosas, croissant French toast, assorted cheeses, butternut squash soup, fried quail legs, steamed buns with fried pork belly and cilantro slaw salad, roasted eggplant arancini, prosciutto wrapped swordfish, arugula honeycrisp apple and parmesan salad with vinegarette, truffles, white bean mustard green soup, the list goes on and on and on. Worked our butts off and had a blast in Nashville and can't wait to go back! I have a full menu of the evening but can't find it . . . trust me when I say it was absolutely the most delicious menu ever and I wanted to eat everything on it. Which I did.

It was a semi-out-of-body weekend because we just went and went and went. It was a treat to see our friend from Vermont who arranged and prepped most of the menu that we served. He and his wife even brought extra beer and maple syrup (grade B---short for Bomb-Diggity I'm certain) and various self-cured meats and cheeses. They. Are. Ridiculous.

Brunch at Marche late on Sunday was totally worth the wait. We feasted and drank and relaxed and talked about everything and nothing. When we got back home late Sunday evening we ordered a pizza, opened a few delicious Vermont beers, and collapsed on the couch.

*Editors note in regards to photographs and her photograph. Um, obviously I look like shit. Full disclosure, had just worked a normal 40 hour week and then we started at 8 am on Saturday and went straight through pausing only for some badass grilled cheeses around noon. Also when you're feeding peeps you can't have your hair hanging down or swinging around---so less-than-neat Heidi braids were the only logical choice. Also I only ever use my iphone for photos because, well, that's all I ever have on me and I don't want to be that person in the restaurant or wherever. I'm obnoxious enough on my own, I don't need to add to the problem with a fancy camera.
Espresso and butterscotch panna cotta with pear jam and buttermilk cornmeal cookies at City House.
Cheese board with honeycomb, apple butter, and dried apricots.
Heirloom tomato salad being prepped with maldon salt and basil chiffonade.
Vermont beer and salted pecans.
Bouquet of basil----cinnamon basil (I think) Thai basil, etc.
It took everything in me to not eat the entire box as figs are  my favorite.
Maple frosted bacon topped, regular glazed, and a lone blueberry cake doughnut.
'
Arugula. Lots of arugula.
Sparkling water and a delicious cocktail (the Juno) at City House.
